    新华社洛杉矶2月23日电(记者谭晶晶)美国航天局23日公布了“新视野”号探测器发回的一组图片,揭开了人类迄今探测的最遥远太阳系天体——“天涯海角”的地貌特征。

    新年第一天,“新视野”号以约5万公里的时速从距“天涯海角”仅3500公里处飞过,完成人类探测史上最遥远的一次星际“邂逅”。

    这些最新图像是“新视野”号上的远程侦察成像仪拍摄的,摄于“新视野”号飞越“天涯海角”前的6分半钟。图像的分辨率为33米,这是“新视野”号迄今传回的像素最高的照片。

    这些高分辨率的照片展示了“天涯海角”许多地表特征,比如发现一些明亮而神秘的圆形区域,在晨昏线附近有一些暗的小深坑。任务团队正在研究这些地貌的成因。

    任务团队表示,这些照片的空间分辨率高,视角独特,有助于研究“天涯海角”的地表特征以及起源和演变。

    “新视野”号项目首席科学家艾伦·斯特恩说,拍摄这些照片需要精确定位“新视野”号和“天涯海角”的位置,因为它们以极高速度擦肩而过,相互位置每刻都在发生变化。这比2015年“新视野”号飞越冥王星时更难观测。

    “天涯海角”位于太阳系边缘柯伊伯带,距太阳大约65亿公里,比冥王星还远约16亿公里。柯伊伯带被认为隐藏着大量冰冻岩石小天体,它们可能还完好保存着太阳系刚刚形成时的信息。

    “新视野”号探测器于2006年1月发射升空,旨在实现人类首次对冥王星等柯伊伯带天体的探测任务,寻找有关太阳系起源和演化的线索。
